  1. JJ's episode 9 is going to stink like fermented Porg.  He is great at rehash and outright theft/reboot.  That's his wheelhouse but actually telling a bold story… not so much.  But it'll make money and Disney won't care.  They will leave ACTUAL story-telling to Dave Filoni and his team that run the animated series.

  2. Mmm I see, surely many guys are thinking about undo it ?… I mean, to solve the problems in the SW9's script ?… I was quite sure that Rain Johnson is the best choice, in fact he already did a draft document of that episode, but if Kathleen Kennedy and her team wasn't able to convince him to keep working after the episode 8, probably they just made a conservative decision and opted for a director who was already involved in the current project, JJ Abrams ?…

  3. I don't want Episode IX to be "safe". This is the culmination of three trilogies and decades of storytelling, it should be an epic film. I don't want ANOTHER Death Star, I don't want to go back Jakku, and I don't want JJ's lazy mystery box analog.

  4. The JJ criticism is a bit amazing to me. Perhaps no person ever, was under such great pressure to deliver a movie and meet a standard. "If he screws this up!"
Force Awakens ends up being the biggest movie ever and was very, very entertaining. I think it is a reflection of who we are now. We all have to find an angle to piss on something.

  5. JJ was referential in the force awakens but not too much. That's probably what the studios requested, something that could make a smooth transition between the old and the new. I think he managed to do it successfully. It was a good movie and a very promising first act to the story being told. He's a good director, he won't ruin anything. I don't know if he's the best option out there but he's definitely a good one.

  6. One thing that should NOT happen in Episode IX is Kylo Ren's redemption. If that happens it makes the whole new movies just a rehash of the original trilogy. For this series to work and stand on its own it needs to develop its own beats and show new material and making sure Kylo follows a different path of the 6 previous movies is essential. Any similarity on his story will make him a second rate Darth Vader and destroy any idea of him as a credible threat.
He shouldn't be redeemed, he should be WORSE than anyone else before him. His path is finishing what Darth Vader started not failing the same way. I'd even go to say "unless he wins at the end it will not feel as a new trilogy."

  7. Nightmare. The best thing that can happen is JJ creates a new "Empire" which means we can actually have a good trilogy again a few years after, which wipes out all the shit we're having to endure with this trilogy. The Empire should be utterly evil, have a Mouse style coat of arms, and be called "Disney"

  8. So let me get this straight. Everyone is upset that they replaced the guy who remade Jurassic Park but made it worse was replaced with a guy who remade ANH and made it awesome??? Not saying TFA was perfect but come on. We all loved it! All you Millennials who think you're voice is so important make me laugh. This movie will be a safe trilogy ender because that's what Kathleen Kennedy and Disney want! So bring in a guy that knows how to crush it! He already admitted that Into Darkness was a mistake…

  9. J.J Abrams is overrated .And most of movies are not good ,I mean has anybody seen how bad the last two Star Trek  movies .For safe would have Quentin Tarantino to direct it ,It would give that edge that George Lucas did with Star Wars .Which Abrams is lacking when it comes to risks ,But you will complain when the movie sinks  .Star Wars ;The Force Awakens is not the best movie. From the series of Star Wars movies ,And Ford & Ridley save it from stinking up .Not old Abrams who just makes the same movie over and over again !

  10. I actually have faith in JJ. Sure he may be weird by leaving franchises and letting someone else pick it up, but he is a really good director. I mean I think he is better than Colin. And has done good with the Star trek series and others, plus he did a great continuation when he made force awakens. You people can't just judge a book by its cover for example, when people thought that Heath Ledger would be a terrible Joker. He proved us all wrong and was the best Joker ever. So news flash to all you doubters, JJ may surprised us. Besides, I would go with JJ than Colin.

  11. A few elements no one wants to see in Episode IX: NO JAKKU OR DESERT PLANET. NO RAPTARS. NO EWOKS. NO GAMORREANS. NO RANCOR. NO SECOND STARKILLER OR EVEN A SMALLER VERSION INSTALLED TO A STAR DESTROYER. NO SMALL REFERENCES TO ROGUE ONE.

  12. A few plots no one wants to see in Episode IX: NO MAZ KANATA DYING. NO FLYING INSIDE A SUPER STRUCTURE TO DESTROY FROM THE INSIDE. NO ROSE TICO AS A GENERAL. NO REY OR LUKE FIGHTING IN FRONT OF SNOKE.

  13. 1. Rey did things, but Jen had thing done to her. 2. FA was show, RO was tell. 3. FA paid tribute to the OT, RO destroyed the importance of Tarkin, Leia, the dang Rebellion ("Let's surrender!").

  14. No. He will just repeat older episodes of star wars. Its going to as pathetic as FA. Same old plot, same old plot, same old plot. Its not enough for me. Insert SJW mary jane feminist bullshit, and I have little to no hope. If Disney will let Marvel SJW destroy Marvel Comics, I dont think they will stop JJ from retreading everything.

  15. Any wagers on Rey fighting a monster in a cave? What about being left in a hostile environment and having to find shelter in a beast or something? LOL. A cloud city? Maybe some carbonite? Disney is not doing Star Wars any favors. Its letting Marvel comics be destroyed and so I dont trust it with any property. Its doing well with the MCU. So there is that.

  16. @Nerdist Jessica, I just don't think JJ Abrams is the right person to either write or direct Episode 9. He needs a sabbatical for say, 6 months to a year. He has gotten thin in his writing and directing. The Force Awakens was a decidedly lazy, formulaic start. Now, I will give him some wiggle room because George Lucas created the Star Wars Universe as a Mythos with the Mythological Hero's Journey. Joseph Campbell called George Lucas his best student. They had done separate interviews about each other and had done at least one together. http://www.starwars.com/news/mythic-discovery-within-the-inner-reaches-of-outer-space-joseph-campbell-meets-george-lucas-part-i and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSyyqctan2c and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qyjmJv7t60 and https://indiefilmhustle.com/the-power-of-myth-star-wars-joseph-campbell/ . Honestly if I had to pic a new director and Co-Writer I would really have to look for someone who knew mythology, the Mythos of the Hero's Journey. There are only 2 directors and writers that come to mind: Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Guillermo in my mind is far better writer and edges Jackson in directing. Anyone can do big budget large scale, oooh, ahhh scenes, as scene in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. But Guilermo can give the same amount of menace, fear, chilling action with incredibly edited, even understated shooting. So yeah, plus he knows Mythology.
