  1. no, please just make good movies from the scratch again. no reboots, sequels, prequels and so on. but no producers would risk the assembly lines of franchise milking movies nowdays.

  2. You guys are completely forgetting about IP damage. For decades, Marvel movies were not as popular as they were wince the MCU came into existence. The introduction of the MCU created canon and that made fans love the movies so much more. In a very real sense, Marvel became popular because it became like Star wars. Ask yourself, why do I want to see Antman so much? Because you are curious to see why he wasn't in Infinity War and what his story contributes towards the canon. Same with the next Black Panther and Spiderman. If Marvel continued to make movies without an MCU then those films would be less appealing.

There is a very simple pattern here. The more a story expands or progresses a fictional universe the more enjoyable it is. Why did Black Panther prove to be so popular? Because it expanded the MCU. Why was IW so popular? Because it progressed the MCU. Why will Avengers 4 be so good? Because it will expand AND progress the MCU. Why was Force Awakens so good? Because it expanded and progressed the Star Wars canon. Why was TLJ less popular? Because it progressed almost nothing and destroyed what TFA developed as an expanded universe. Why did Solo do so poorly? Because it progressed nothing and expanded very little. What Disney need to do is stop producing Star Wars films for a few years to prevent further damage to the license and sit down with teams of writers and work on films which will expand the fiction and have a plot that can be progressed with each movie.

  3. Star wars could have a film every 4 months that sells well. If the quality was consistently was good.

  4. Marvel has considerably greater source material to play around with, and even then the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a laughable bastardization of the comic universe. On the other hand, the writers for Star Wars have to create original plotlines that tie together with the existing metaplot while also leaving enough creative development for future stories.

  5. I think Marvel is more of a brand than a franchise and they've multiple franchises which interconnect.
As for us trekkies, do keep in mind that each of the trek shows that followed after the original didn't reach the same popularity the original did, although I'll admit possibly TNG did and DS9 has since become quite popular. So there might be something similar with SW where the originals remain the most popular and fans don't warm to the new versions.

  6. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is built by the thought and care and work of Keven Fiege and the directors he brings in, and the fact that the superhero-specific franchises are tonally distinct. I like the newer Star Wars films, but they don't aspire to the kind of historical continuity and character-building Marvel does. It feels like Marvel gets better with time, and Star Wars quite the opposite.

  7. TBH I'm a little tired of Marvel movies – especially with the "Disney twist" in every plot. I think I'm just tired of Disney movies, and comic book movies. I might be done with movies altogether.

One of the most frustrating part of comic book movies is the infinite parallel worlds.

  8. It comes down to 2 things: respect for your characters & established canon, and respect the fans (and they've shown nothing but contempt for both)

  9. The John Williams score is so ubiquitous, people don’t know how much it matters. There is the Rebellion theme, these Empire them, Leia’s theme, and Dual of the Fates being the main ones.
These can get burned out. Imagine how good Empire would have been if The Bee Gees scored it

  10. These guys give off a subtle vibe that Star War fans are kind of jerks that piss on any other kind of cinematic entertainment. Now it seems that the golden shower is starting to really pour on them and the freak out is intriguing to watch.

  11. WELP AT LEAST DBZ WILL NEVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR AUDIENCE. DONT LIKE SOMEONE THAT DIED OKAY IT WILL BE EXPLAINED BY JUST WISHING THEM BACK.

  12. I WANT THE BEYONDERS TO BE NEXT BUT NOT UNTIL THE CURRENT ACTORS AGE MORE BUT SINCE ODIN DEAD I MEAN….THE BEYONDERS ARE NEXT BUT TBH THEY CAN JUST HOTU THANOS AND LITERALLY PICK UP FROM WHERE EVER THEY WANT THEY HAVE A GOOD CHANCE I ALSO WANT TO SEE STAN LEE AS TOAA

  13. BRUH THEY ABOUT TO START ADDING GUEST CHARACTERS, SO WHEN STARBRAND SHOWS JUST KNOW THE BEYONDERS ARE COMING.

  14. I think it's quite easy to explain: Star Wars is always set in Space, it's always pretty clear what is going to happen. Whereas Marvel-Movies share an open world. Everything can happen. Anywhere. The characters differ so much from each other. In Star Wars you have the feeling there are the Sith, the Jedis ans some other, minor characters (just a feeling). If you want to see something new, you are going to see watch marvel. This works for way more people. because Star Wars is only for people who know what to expect. And if their expectations aren't fulfilled, they hate the movie. Marvel –> more audience…

  15. This is just my opinion:
MCU is successful as Disney nor Marvel Studio themselves NEVER officially announce which story is canon and which one is not. The moviegoers and the comic book readers are "free to choose" which stories that they like, and they can even combine the stories in the comic book with the MCU movies. All stories are treated equally as 'multiverse', and fans are happy to keep watching the movies.

Star Wars, on the other hand, strictly follows which one is canon and which one is not (the Legend in this case). So, when people are not happy with the official canon, they are simply "stuck" with it. No multiverse here, and some fans end up being unhappy with the direction of the official canon.

    Again, just my 50 cents.

  16. Marvel does so much better because Kevin Feige is a hard core comic book fan and knows what to have in his movies that would appeal to a massive audience. Kathleen Kennedy on the other hand, I don’t think she really knows what to have in the Star Wars movies because she doesn’t know what the fans want. But I love both Marvel and Star Wars I just think that’s the reason marvel does better at the box office and with the critics/fans.

  17. But why does everybody hate the last Jedi and Solo. I am just womdering. I just sat back and enjoyed the movies without stressing much.

  18. Star Wars had the expanded universe, and yet they don't pull from it. That's their years of source material

  19. Marvel movie is new, Starwars is old,,there are more recent follower for Marvel movies ..Marvel Universe is bigger than Starwars in terms of existing saga (comics). I love both but more invested in MCU

  20. Captain American should be a high school girl according to the guy on the right… That is the kind of thinking that ruins things. Thank godness you're not in charge. That makes even less sense than a female Thor. Want more female characters, MAKE THEM!

  21. Star Wars is failing because Kennedy and Co. have traded away good story telling for blatantly inflicting far left politics. I could ignore the bad politics if Lucas Film would at least tell a good story that does not dump on the classic characters and the fans.

  22. I understand your argument but I was very distracted by all of the things you kept saying wrong about marvel. The fact that you attempt to make an argument involving marvel while you don't understand that the MCU is separate or that Ant-man and the Wasp takes place before Infinity War made many of your points invalid.
